‘just’ say yes
Have you seen that movie: “Yes Man” ?
I did, probably like 3 times. I really dig this movie. Not just because of Jim Carrey. Ja, I do like to watch him act.. it’s just so unique!
It’s also not because it was brought out waaaaay before the trend we know now, where every second person (a good thing!) is on a coaching traject, and it’s increasingly normalised to speak about depression, bad days, bad moods, showing some anger or dissapointment when it comes up: yep - just being and showing Your Self.
YES - I like that. And increasingly I’m seeing people ‘allowing’ themselves to say: “No, actually - I’m not doing so well a.t.m. …”. OOO YES: can we please have more realness, in life?
But I’m already getting lost.
Back to the point: I like this movie so much, not simply because the main character simply moves from a “nay sayer” - to a “yes man”, and it’s funny. I like it, because it shows us that we can change ourselves, by doing things differently.
By trying out something new. Stepping out of that square box comfort.
He just went overnight from a “no” to a “yes”, in his daily vocabulary.
OK, I write “just” - but actually it’s a big step, for a man that always said “no” to everything before. But think about it: what if you did that, just for the next hour? Of course, without anyone knowing about your little “yes saying” experiment? < you don’t want people to start making use of it…. ;) >
: : : can you get me a coffee, some cookies and, oh - could you also pick up my package from the post office at 16:00, please? thank youuuu…” > : : :
Words have power in them.
But moreover, positive wording, has power - and it’s in all of us to use that to to our advantage.
So, more positively speaking…
how we can wake up, drive our car, do our work, walk, talk, do sports, and just be with more ++++ >> POSITIVISM << ++++ in our lives?
Well, try out what works for you.
Is it from going to a yes, coming from a (always) no? Or maybe for you, it is the other way around? Do you always say “yes” to everything, and does this not seem to work out for you? For example: Is it exhausting you to always be there for others - but not for yourself?
Heck, try saying NO - for 1 whole day. See how that works out for you!
Also that, I would categorize, is speaking more positively (with yourself..). => OKAY, that theme is a whole new chapter / blog in itself !
How do you contain your energy and let it work for you - in the best way, throughout the day?
Let us make our words count.
Say YES more often. Say NO, for a difference. And if you don’t know… say exactly that: I do not know.
Try different things out, the coming days. Speak with positivism. Try smiling with it - gracefully while doing so.
What does that little experiment do with your energy today?
